Lincoln gets revved up for red
The city of Lincoln has many neighborhood parks, but on Wednesday, the focus was on Allison Park located in the north end of the Mayfair subdivision.
The city’s ad hock group “From the Ground Up” was asking for help with the “Paint the Town Red” program that was started last fall and has bloomed into a city beautification project. The project asks for people to purchase 100 red tulips for $15, then plant them on street corners and areas that are visible to the public.
Also on hand was the city’s DARE group, whose members were serving hot dogs and soda, as well as members from the Lincoln Fire Department, who brought fire awareness items for the adults and children to interact with.
Mayor Keith Snyder said the event was one way for neighborhoods to come out and see the different programs that are available to the public.
“All of the services belong to the people and it’s nice to see the neighborhood come together and take pride in where they live,” said Snyder. “I know the police are always searching for groups of people to start a neighborhood watch program and the fire department wants to keep safety in the minds of all.”
