Pay it forward: Golden rule shines on Friday
On Friday, two Wilton police officers won’t be handing out traffic tickets. They will be handing out yellow roses and cheerful greetings.
And so motorists won’t be baffled, they will also be handing out cards explaining that Friday, Sept. 23, is Random Acts of Kindness Day in Wilton.
It’s a collaboration between the police department and Wilton Chamber of Commerce to encourage people to do a favor or good deed for someone else. The observation of this unofficial holiday has been taking place for 11 years.
The officers and chamber volunteers usually position themselves on River Road near Stop & Shop, but because of all the construction taking place in Wilton Center, the chamber had not decided on a central location by press time.
Ms. Strickland said the event will begin around 10 or 10:30 and keep going until all 500 roses, donated by Stewart Flowers & Gifts, are given away.
The cards say: The Wilton Chamber of Commerce and the Wilton Police Department remind you to practice random acts of kindness.
