Q: Why do some men have such a difficult time expressing their feelings in writing?

A: One of the things we talk about on the site is looking to the past for information on how to be manly and how we've lost some of these values or things we used to do that were great. Letter writing in general is one of those things- in particular, writing love letters. I sometimes go through the love letters my grandfather sent my grandmother. It's really nice because I can tell how much they cherished each other. When you look at people today, we don't see this enough because they think it's too cheesy or too sentimental; we've become a cynical and jaded society that doesn't appreciate those things. Writing love letters is a way to reconnect with our sentimentality.

Q: What role has technology played in the downfall of love-letter writing?

A: With e-mails as prolific as they are, letter writing has fallen to the wayside. When you write something very romantic through an e-mail, it just doesn't have the same panache or gravitas as getting out a pen and paper and writing in ink does.
