May 21 at 2:30 in the afternoon, Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, Texas, was the setting for the nuptial mass uniting Mary Elizabeth Hermann and Jeffrey Andrew Dobecka in the sacrament of holy matrimony.
Officiating at the mass was Father Thuy Quang Nguyen, assisted by Deacon Jim Burkel, uncle of the bride, and Deacon Jerome Losack, longtime friend and neighbor of the Hermann family.
Mary Elizabeth is the youngest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William J. Hermann of Sealy and the granddaughter of Janet Hermann and the late William Hermann, and maternal grandparents, the late Frank and Millie Schlesinger. Jeffrey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Dobecka of Bellville. He is the grandson of Bernice Dobecka and the late Victor Dobecka of Weimar, and Melvin and Dorothy Schilling of La Grange.
Escorted by her father, and carrying a bouquet of pale pink peonies, the bride wore an ivory strapless gown designed with a soft sweetheart neckline. Accenting the lace-overlay bodice was a pearl encrusted belt, which flowed into a Morbido tulle layered skirt adorned with embossed lace flowers. For something old, Mary wore a blue cameo brooch belonging to the groom’s paternal grandmother, which was a gift from her husband while serving with the military in Italy.
