Spectacular high country gardens open to the public

Open Gardens Australia will welcome visitors to some very different high country gardens in the Cooma-Monaro area next weekend and to help raise funds for local community groups, disaster relief and community gardening projects across Australia.

The garden owners involved on October 15-16 have generously offered to share the pleasures of their gardens with the public both for the love of gardening and to help raise funds for the Raglan Gallery and Cultural Centre in Cooma, the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research and the Numeralla School.

In addition to local groups, funds raised through entry fees will go to the Open Gardens Australia Giving Program. This program is a lesser-known but important element of the organisation’s work. Proceeds from all open gardens around Australia go towards disaster relief, such as the Queensland floods and community gardening grants – to assist a range of grassroots organisations to improve their lives through gardening.
