Exotic orchids steal the show in Ringwood

ORCHID lovers will see the best and brightest of their favourite flowers at the annual Ringwood Orchid Show this weekend.

Society president Denis Oliver said although orchids had a reputation for being tricky to grow, it was just about finding the right growing conditions for the plant.

“They are a spectacular plant and flowers can last for a month or six weeks,” Mr Oliver said.

“Cymbidiums are fairly bomb-proof, while others need specialist growing conditions.

“It can help to get a bit of advice, which is what society members will be there to offer.”

The show will be at the Maroondah Secondary College Community Hall, Brentnall Rd, Croydon, from 9am-4pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. Entry: $3 or $2 concession.
