Comfort zoneOutside, the wind whipped and the rain came down, but I didn't care. I felt perfectly content in the Mint Room, our upstairs accommodations with a plush, queen-size feather bed topped with a down comforter and super soft linens, and surrounded by antique furniture and a plein air oil painting of the Coyote Valley by innkeeper and artist Kathy Ellis. In the corner, a fireplace flickered and its mantel featured two lovely ceramic jars with fresh calla lilies.
Bath and beyondSoothing, pale blue walls, subdued lighting and a claw-foot tub filled with water scented with rosemary bath salts created a relaxing ambiance in which to savor a soak. EO French lavender shampoo and conditioner, grapefruit and mint body lotion, a pair of robes and fluffy white towels added to a sense of being pampered. The tub also contained a shower.
Grounds for approvalIn the late afternoon, guests ensconce themselves in the parlor to listen to classical music, sip wine, munch on cheese, crackers and olives and peruse fashion, travel and home decor magazines. I enjoyed getting to know my fellow travelers and Rick and Kathy Ellis, who own the inn and call it home. Out back, herbs, ferns and other flora grow in a petite garden, accented by an Italian style wall fountain.
