Sense of Fashion: Trend highlight: Colored denim
Fashion is often a reflection. Pervasive to seasonal trending, denim style changes can indicate much more than something that’s hot right now. So let’s consider what this sudden splash of color may mean to our denim landscape.
We see changes in seasons and changes in style that can reflect on the state of the industry, the mood of our global community, or sometimes just the boldness of a designer. Since a pair of jeans costs more, and wears longer, trends in denim can be interesting to watch. Our fashion scouts cheered when they saw the colors in fall previews and waited to see the local reaction.
How did these fare in the fall?
While fall traditionally has vibrant colors, we noticed that this season brought deep saturated colors to our favorite denim lines. We spoke to several boutiques who tested a few colors this fall and they were happy to report that their fall inventory sold out.
Fab’rik ordered two colors, a new blue and cigarette leg scarlet red. These sold off the shelves almost immediately. J. Paige also ordered dye-colored denim and out these went. They still have red, green solid denim and blush colored corduroys. Bleu Belle ordered deep red and sold the first line of designer jeans, so they ordered more.
