Merle W. Crooks Jr.
Merle William Crooks Jr., 60, Martinsburg, went home to be with the Lord Monday evening at his home. After defeating cancer, he passed away from complications associated with the disease.
He was born in Pontiac, Mich., son of Mary Jane (Mosbey) and the late Merle W. Crooks Sr. He married Annamarie Scheff on Sept. 11, 1980, at Walled Lake, Mich.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years; four daughters: Rachel L. Black and husband, Garry, of Woodbury, Katie J. Rhykerd and husband, Josh, of Martinsburg, Natalie M. Baker and husband, Benjamin, of Curryville and Rebecca A. Crooks, at home; a grandson, Brady William Black; his mother of rural Martinsburg; and four sisters: Marlene Brannon, June Keith, Cathy Tucker and Jenny McAlonan.
He was preceded in death by a sister, L. Marie Wilson.
Mr. Crooks was a 1969 graduate of Waterford High School, Waterford, Mich. and a 1974 graduate of Ferris State College, Big Rapids, Mich., where he received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
