Fine example
How wonderful to read about a young man like Akeem Springs who has done things right by working out, playing basketball and doing his homework. Isn’t it wonderful that he can go to school where his family is. Continued success to a young man who has set a fine example for other young people.
Watch their moves
Lake County needs some oversight as far as tearing down and preserving buildings. The former TB Sanatorium at 2400 Belvidere in Waukegan needs to be preserved and the county can’t be trusted to preserve it. The county tore down a gorgeous historic building on Grand Avenue and put up a monstrosity. I don’t know how they snuck that one through. The county also tore down what use to be the little TB clinic on Keller and Dodge. It had gorgeous woodwork and was truly an architectural marvel. They tore it down and nobody said a word. They tore down that beautiful former mansion that was the Lake County offices for the Forest Preserve on Milwaukee Avenue. I think the county definitely needs the city or the National Trust for Historic Preservation to watch every move they make.
