Oak Bluffs
When I look out at the yard, it is difficult to guess which month this is. I have a rhododendron in bloom, an azalea is showing pink blossoms, and I even have a bright yellow daisy blooming in the perennial garden. But if you look at the front porch, you will see red ribbons, garlands of lighted greens and icicle lights hanging from the eaves.
Whoever said, "you can't fool Mother Nature?"
How fortunate we all were to have such a beautiful day on Thanksgiving. The weather cooperated so travelers' journeys were made much easier. Our son and daughter-in-law Dion and Debra Alley and their daughter, Paige, drove from Charleston, S.C., to celebrate the holidays with their Island family. On Thanksgiving, 20 of us celebrated this holiday at Flat Point Farm in West Tisbury with each guest bringing a food contribution to grace the table and everyone helping out before and after dinner. Good food, conversation, and contentment were the rewards of that day.
The date in last week's column for the Friends of the Oak Bluffs Council on Aging Holiday Bazaar was incorrect. The correct date for the Holiday Bazaar is this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 am to 2 pm at the Senior Center.
