CHERRY HILL, N.J.--( EON: Enhanced Online News )--The Sons of Italy New Jersey Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the oldest and largest national organization for men and women of Italian descent, today announced its fundraiser, the 2010 Purple Aster Charity Ball, to be held on April 10, 2010, at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. At this event, which is held every two years to raise funds for charities and scholarships, the Sons of Italy New Jersey Foundation Inc., will also honor three Italian-Americans with its Golden Lion Award, for their contributions to the community, charity and fostering a positive image of Italians in America.
The Award recipients include: Marlene Z. Asselta, President of SNJDC, a non-profit organization founded in 1951 to promote responsible economic development in South Jersey; Anthony F. Capaccio, President and Business Manager of Laborers Local 172; and, Karen A. Talarico, Esquire, Executive Director of Cathedral Kitchen, an independent nonprofit providing meals and other services to the poor in Camden, NJ.
